About KRSA

Kerala Roller Skating Association (KRSA) is the registered and recognized state body for the sport Roller Skating in Kerala, affiliated with Roller Skating Federation of India (RSFI). KRSA is recognized by Kerala State Sports Council & Kerala Olympic Association.

  • Kerala Roller Skating Association (K.R.S.A) was formed in 70’s. Enthusiast having noticed a round rink at the Shankumugham Beach, Trivandrum enquired about the purpose for such an odd construction. Then it was revealed that the respected Lt. Col. P. R. Godavarma Raja, of his own interest had brought few pair of skates with metal wheels and had constructed the odd structure with railings for roller skating.
  • With this knowledge, the enthusiast started skating in the said rink with purchases of metal wheel skates, which was only available at that time, and started skating and later founded the K.R.S.A. Later on skates with rubber wheels were procured and afterwards contacted experts outside Kerala and developed this sports.
  • The first Kerala Roller Skating Team participated in the National Roller Skating Championships during 1977 at  Jammu and afterwards continuously participated in all the Nationals.
  • The sport of “Roller Skating” and the national parent body i.e. Roller Skating Federation of India was recognized by Government of India during the year 2000 and the Indian Olympic Association also followed suit. After a long period of waiting Kerala State Sports Council recognized Kerala Roller Skating Association in the discipline of “Roller Skating”  in April 2013.
  • The Kerala State Cadet, Sub Junior , Junior, Senior & Masters Team for Nationals is selected every year from the Kerala State Championships. For the 60th Nationals held in December 2023, Kerala Team participated in Speed Skating, Artistic Skating, Inline Freestyle Skating, Roller Hockey, Skateboarding, Inline Alpine, Downhill, Roller Scooter, Roller Freestyle disciplines. The Kerala Team bagged 11 Gold, 20 Silver & 44 Bronze Medals.
